It's Official

I decided to wait until the 30th of the month to post—that’d make it official that I hadn’t blogged in, well, a month. I stepped off the grid for a while. I’ve put my attention on other things… like people. I write letters, you know.

I just read a really good book called The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes. It only inspired me to write more letters… not necessarily love letters, but really, aren’t all letters a type of love letter? You are giving of yourself and that’s love. I could go on and on about that, but I won’t.

The next word in my thesaurus, along with my drawing is number 52, Completeness and I thought I’d continue to share, just not every day.

I feel a sense of completeness when I’m coloring my drawings. It really is meditative.

food for thought: “What do you do that is meditative?

  1. Reading is--for me--meditative in a way. I doodle (zentangle) too, but my drawings never are realistic renderings...because they never look like anything real when my hands are involved. (Your bottle of that essential oil--I'm impressed!)

  3. I like to sit out in the quiet of the morning or at the end of the day and reflect. You are a very special person, you really care about others.

  4. What beautiful, poetic words - about all letters being love letters! Please let me know if you don't want me quoting you. I collect quotes, you know. Selecting them is sort of meditative, I guess. So is driving at times.

  5. I have heard of many taking a respite from FAcebook and blogging both. I listen to running water...have a new foundation on deck and I love it!

  7. I don't know anymore. It might be when I have built my nest on the couch, sipping on wine, with my cell phone on to FB next to me, a book on my lap, the t.v. on .. and I manage to block everything out and think of other things. I think that when I am doing finish work on sewing projects or knitting/crocheting I mediate. I am just now getting back into those things.

  8. LOVE your letters. The card you made for me after I signed my book contract touched me so much. I'm trying to figure out how to frame it without tearing it apart, because I love the outside as much as the inside. Meditative---I read, and I don't listen to music in the car very often. That's where I do a lot of my thinking.

  9. I can't draw or paint, but when I was in college my roommate began doing paint-by-number sets to relax during stressful times. I LOVED it, and never thought I would. You just brought back a fond memory. Thanks! Now I like to look at water to relax, but maybe I'll go out and buy a paint-by-number set!

  10. Reading is quiet time for me, although I'd really love to develop the habit of daily meditation. Those who practice it regularly seem so much more calm and relaxed.
