Blogger Slacker

I just want to apologize to all my blogger friends out there... those who have been gracious enough to read this blog and comment. I have been a blogger slacker. Sometimes I'll take a quick peek at one of the many blogs that I follow, but lately I've been neck deep in stuff. Aren't we all though, too busy? But I have been doing creative stuff too... like writing a letter every day and drawing every day and journaling every day.

I have a website that I'm getting ready to take down and thought I'd incorporate some of it here in this blog... hmmm. You can see for yourself. I'm a bit wordy, I'll admit, but then, hey, I am a writer. But also as a writer, we are to be concise, to the point. My husband and son feel like I babble on before I make my point. I'm thinking it's the difference between how males and females like to tell stories. The men give no details, while the women probably give too many, but... I like details.

What about you?

At any rate, I love all you bloggers out there - and all of you other peeps out there. I'll get it together, maybe... but if you really want to hear from me... just say the word and I'll write you a word or two or three...

School and Other Stuff

Dear Mom,

School is going well, and as I figured, it is consuming most of my time. Hence, it’s already February! Haven’t blogged in three weeks, barely do any social media. I feel like a hermit.

Everyone who said I’d love school was right. However, my brain is on overload. Today I’m going to make flash cards to remember all the important lingo that goes with HTML and programming.

The other night when I was in the ER, I watched the nurse inputting info into the hospital system. All I could think of was the person who created that program had to be a Master Geek—and I use that term ‘geek’ in the highest regard of respect—considering how little I know at this point and how long it takes me. I marvel at what goes on behind the scenes.

I was hoping to display a program I’m working on for class as you creative folks might find it fun. Maybe next post.

Ever since school started, I’ve been dreaming in codes.

Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway, I’ve managed only two weeks of the Mindful Writing Challenge. I was going to sketch daily… uh, that stopped too. I talked about writing an essay a day… errr, well, maybe I wrote five (rough at that). My weekly blog is more like monthly. Blog reading… hmmm, I try. Oh and I had to change my comment thing where you must enter the garbled words to comment because the spammers were bombarding me.

I want to thank Kathy from Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy for awarding me, which I may not deserve any longer (perhaps when school is over). Her blog is chock full of all kinds of things.

Sending love to my friend Kim who’s going through a difficult time. And my cousin, Jane.

My friend Michele makes beautiful stars—I had her make me some blue ones for my little Christmas tree (that I put away just a week ago).

Aren’t they beautiful? Let me know if you’d like some for your tree and I’ll hook you up. You know, Christmas will be here before we know it at the way time is flying by. She makes star jewelry too.

And last, but not least, although I’m sure I’m leaving a bunch of stuff out, but I’ll be attending a spiritual seminar here in St. Louis, Missouri in mid-February. If you’re so inclined, it’s free for guests. The guest speaker, Linda Anderson is an author. The seminar may or may not be your cup of tea, but I’m sure you’d enjoy Linda’s talk.

Hope everyone is healthy and happy! Now back to homework...

Blogging Etiquette

Dear Mom,

What about blogging etiquette? I often wonder if I need to acknowledge someone who has made a comment on my blog. Is it rude that I don’t? When I comment on someone’s blog, I never go back and look to see if that person responded to my comment (unless I’m asking a question, then, if I remember, I’ll go back and look). I barely have time to read blogs, much less go back and check if they’ve commented on my comment. Who has that kind of time?

I know we bloggers all like comments, but it seems we need to make it easier on ourselves and not comment on comments. But maybe that’s because I don’t do it and I’m being lazy.

I’m not a rude person. I’ll return a call, reply to a letter and email someone back—unless they’re forwarding me something that doesn’t require any kind of answer. I listen when people talk and try not to butt in, but I have been known to blurt out something when someone’s talking. I especially do this with my children. My reason for that annoying character flaw is due to the fact that I’m afraid I’ll forget what I have to say. Lately I’ve been taking note and stopping myself. And I can’t remember what I want to say when it’s my turn.

But back to blogging. I appreciate comments even though I don’t respond. Sometimes their response is more entertaining and thought provoking then the blog I wrote. My mind races—why am writing? Oh yeah, writing is my lifeline. What keeps me sane.

If I don’t respond to blogs, it doesn’t mean I don’t like what is written. I’m either feeling inadequate or someone’s already commented the same thing I wanted to say and I’ll feel “dupid” repeating. Or I’m busy… writing.

Do other bloggers feel this way or is it just me? What about blogging etiquette? I could do some research, but when would I have time to blog?

Ooopsy

Okay no one can accuse me of being quick - it just dawned on me that I was honored with the Beautiful Blogger award by my blogging buddy, Lisa (Writing in the Buff). I knew she mentioned me in her blog, but I didn't "get it" when I was reading it. Maybe because of all this typing/writing with NaNo, my brain seems to be a little fuzzy lately. Thanks Lisa!
