Book Blurb Friday #20

It’s Book Blurb Friday #20. Hosted by Lisa of Writing in the Buff. Head to Lisa Ricard Claro’s blog for BBF directions. Write a book blurb jacket in 150 words based on the photo—this one provided by her daughter, Christina Claro.

Now can I just mention that Lisa's directions say, "Write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book." I'm sure that I haven't written a blurb so enticing yet, but it is all in good fun.

Since I’m a sucker for bridges, I had to go ahead and play/write this one.

In 99 words…
The Other Side

Obermoeller knew she could make it to the other side. It was just a matter of time. It had been 13 years since her first love drowned while saving her life. He heaved her up onto the bank of the Spring River and when she turned around, he was gone. Vanished. They never found his body. Obermoeller spent the last 13 years in Spring River’s County Jail for a crime she never committed. Find out the compelling story of Obermoeller’s quest in finding the painful truth of her first and only love once she heads to the other side.

  1. Poor Obermoeller! She's such a trooper. Love your blurb with so much going on (near drowning, vanishing lover, jail time, and a quest for the truth). You've packed a lot into only 99 words. Although this has elements of mystery and thriller, I'm going with romance. I think the lost lover will show up and put the blush back on the rose. :) He's what's on the other side! (And he better have a good reason for being MIA.)

  2. No body means the man is sure to be alive and well somewhere, but then why?? Or is he dead? Ooh, this one is good!

  3. A wonderful premise for a book, Lynn! Romance, mystery and a palpable sense of anticipation...love the whole idea...:)

  4. Thirteen years in a county jail is a long time. Is she too weak to make it to the other side? Too nervous? Too scared? You must let us know!

  5. Ooh, I just love a mystery...and one with romance, too! I agree with Lisa--that Obermoeller leads one exciting life and I am buying her book!

  6. The unanswered questions in this one would have me buying it in a heartbeat. I'm rather hoping that her man was rescued from the river, but suffering amnesia. Got to give him some acceptable excuse. :D I'm not sure why that lovely bridge would evoke jail time, but it did for me as well.

  7. Romance, mystery, missing person, wrongful imprisonment - I'd buy it! Something about that peaceful, little bridge certainly does invite us all to imagine the worst.

  8. Love it, Lynn! And I'll chime in with the others...Obermoeller is one very busy character!

  9. I'm envisioning both a romance and a mystery here. Assuming Obermoeller was convicted of killing her first love, she has to prove her innocense. But, I also sense that she will find him alive and discover why he had to "play dead", creating a new mystery to solve. Of course, "other side" could also be another realm wherein that first love has gone.

  12. Lynn, you are so funny. That poor lady, heartsick and rotting away in jail. Poor thing.

Hey, I love your kitty pics and your Sibling Day. What a wonderful idea and time to look forward to throughout the year.

    Heart ya!
