Book Blurb Friday #2

It's clear as you read my book blurbs that I'm not very good at this and so why I continue to torture and embarrass myself, I'm really not sure. This is the first "meme" (had to find out what that really meant) that I've participated in and so I guess I plan to try and do it each week... for the challenge.

What is Book Blurb Friday for anyone who is seeing this on my blog and has no idea? It's my blogger friend, Lisa (Writing in the Buff) who has challenged us to write a book cover based on the photo she posts (this photo is by her daughter, Christina). The book blurb has to be 150 words or less. I almost doubled my word count from the first Book Blurb. Word count this time: 85

For more details about Book Blurb Friday visit Lisa's blog.

Here we go:

Title: Going Places

Every time Obermoeller feels blue, she goes there… to those woods. Napping under the tree as the sun comforts her. She remembers it like yesterday the first time she stood in those woods at age three. What happened to Obermoeller in those woods fifty years ago? And how does she get to that place now as a paraplegic? Find out in Obermoeller’s true story to learn the gift of traveling out of your body so you can go to places that you’ve never dreamed possible.

  1. Sounds like you've got the hang of it to me! Well done. I'd like to find out how Obermoeller manages the out-of-body thing...don't suppose you can really do that, huh? Just asking. :)

  2. Holy smokes I am impressed by your idea Lynn-how did you come up with this??? Unfortunately for me, I was blessed with the gift of gab, so a 150 limit is daunting!

  3. Lynn---

I'm with Susan Forbes. I just barely got under the wire of 150 words. How did you write something so succinctly? (And I like that you used your last name as the character's name.)

  8. Very intriguing! I want to know how to do that out-of-body thing, too! Especially since I'm about the only person I know not going anywhere for spring break.

  9. Yes, everyone is right. You done good. The purpose of the blurb is to make a potential buyer want to buy the book, and you have created enough interest to draw the reader in, then right over to the counter with credit card in hand.

  12. I don't know why you think you're embarrassing yourself, Lynn. I love the idea. I would so love to know how we can go places without moving! Very nice!

  13. Hi Lynn, you did great! But you totally described why I feel afraid to try. Look at us silly girls, writing on our own blogs and not worrying about it, but when it comes to fiction .... well.

I'm going to have to give it a try next week, cuz Lisa is using one of my photos.

Congrats on your first year, Lynn. I'm sorry that you lost your Mom when you were so young.

    Best and God bless,

    Kathy

  14. Hi Lynn

I have only just got around to last week's book blurbs, but I'm glad I did!

This is so imaginative and a great tease.

    Well done
