Update on WiWoDoNaNo

Dear Mom,

It's clear I'm not as disciplined by being a WiWoDoNaNo versus an official NaNoWriMo participant, but I am writing every day. I write every day anyway, it's just I'm more aware of how much I'm writing.

I was out of town this weekend, but I scribbled a few words. I'm using amounts of time versus word count this November.

November 1: One hour, 35 minutes
November 2: One hour, 45 minutes
November 3: One hour, 10 minutes
November 4: 15 minutes
November 5: 15 minutes

I think I can add a little time to a few of these days, if I include some writing that wasn't personal. On November 4 and 5, I could add an additional two hours and 30 minutes--and that's for each day.

Hey, it's writing, right?

Oh, and here is a picture of my sweet niece, Victoria and me. We were in front of Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, MN. The photo was taken by Victoria's partner, Kate--photographer extraordinaire!

  1. Hey Lynn! Great photo of you and your niece. I was just getting ready to ask what the WiWo thingy meant, but I read the previous post and saw. Good for you for writing, but as you said, you do it every day as it is. I've never done Nano...probably never will.

  2. I like your idea of keeping track of time instead of words! Nice picture of both you and your niece.

  3. How great, yes, I say any writing is worth counting.
Otherwise how could I count my answering work e-mails? Those need to get done as well, don't they?

I've been using it ever since and it is great productivity advice for anyone, I think. See if it might work for you :)

  4. Hehe. I hadn't heard of WiWoDoNaNo.

I actually keep a record of the time I spend on various writing projects in my diary. Keeps me motivated.

  5. Keeping track of my writing time is something I've never tried, but I can see where it might motivate. And I could use more of that. I've been terribly scattered and unproductive lately, so maybe this will help.

  6. That's great idea, time vs. words. Youa re more disciplined than I am. I can go days without writing and then write to catch up. It's exhausting.

  7. Hi Lynn,
You are making amazing progress. I'm so impressed. And you've done this now--what--three years in a row?

And the photo of you and your niece is lovely.

  8. I agree with the others. You are very inspiring, Lynn! Great idea to keep track of the writing time rather than the pages, by the way. Then I could count all that time I sit there. Ha. Cute picture!
