My posts may slow up as I’m going to school this semester.
Learning web production, html and all that techy stuff and then with any luck
at all, I’ll be creating a new look with my personal website:
lynnobermoeller.com. The “Dear
Mom” may go bye-bye, although you’ll always be there in heart.
What I want to share with you has to do with another one of
your creative grandchildren, Victoria. You know she’s a professor of music at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, however, recently she has decided
to share her own music with the universe. She started a blog where she will
post a new song each week. The first song, “Hold On” brought me to tears—I
cried like a baby. How could one not be moved by this piece? Go to Cool Awesome Whatever and listen for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. Scroll down to the first post - Welcome to my blog.
She already has a second song, "Why" posted. Thanks for sharing--it is more than cool awesome.
Last Saturday, I attended St. Louis Writers Guild’s (SLWG)
monthly workshop, featuring Catherine Rankovic on essay writing. (You can check out more at her website BookEval.) Talk about another cool awesome.... Because I journal daily—free writing—it wasn’t difficult for me
to use Catherine’s approach in free writing an essay. I’ve decided rather than
ramble and whine like I normally do in my journal, I’d step it up a few notches
and write an essay every day. Thanks Catherine.
Glad to see a new post, Lynn, and your news sounds full and fun. Now don't without an alert first! Thanks for the links to music...will try to check it out. Sounds like your new year is really something new!!!
ReplyDeleteLynn, thank you. I suggest if you are interested in publishing your daily-life essays, the book Writing From Personal Experience by Nancy K e l t o n (1997); get a used copy at amazon.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Lynn! So looking forward to tomorrow night. And I want to talk to you about this website, as I am in the process of creating my own!
ReplyDeleteIs EVERYONE in your family talented, Lynn??! Guess so! Your classes sound awesome. Hope you share some of what you learned.
ReplyDeleteCreativity definitely runs in your family! Congrats on taking classes. I could sure use doing something like that since I'm a total tech-know-not.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I missed that workshop. Hopefully it will be offered again sometime soon...maybe at Saturday Writers?

Tammy said the same thing I said on your niece's blog--your family is hogging up the creative talent.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I missed this workshop. Donna Volkenannt also posted about it. It sounds like it was a phenomenal workshop.
My goodness your family is gifted. I can't wait to see the results of your new schooling. I need that class!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout-out, Aunt Lynn! I think 2013 is going to be awesome for both of us. Can't wait to hear about your classes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to your niece's blog. No wonder you're so proud! And I've no doubt that your essay writing will be a success. By the time you're through . . . you'll have a whole book!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous that you're going to school to learn the cool techie stuff!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you're going to learn all that "techy" stuff! Congrats on everything!
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you, Lynn, going back to school to learn all of that "hard" stuff.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to checking out the links that you have given us. I also wanted to let you know that I gave you an award on yesterday's post for your thoughtful and encouraging comments over the past several years.

Such wonderful inspiration, thank you for sharing! Victoria sounds amazing, wish I would've pursued my singing talents a bit more.
ReplyDeleteAnd hey, just about the only good thing with not being able to read this earlier? I got to listen to even more songs than just the two you mentioned ;)
Break a leg in classes, you can then give your minions some pointers into the techy world.
You'll do great in those classes and learn so much. You do indeed have a talented family! Let me know when you get your website up and running! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI think I said this already, but I think it's fantastic how you start your blog entries with 'Dear Mom,' but I also think she'd understand if you were to change that <3
ReplyDeleteHow is the daily essay going? That seems like quite a challenge to me :)
Sorry I'm late catching up on blog posts. Good luck with school. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with the posters who've commented about your talented family.
Wishing you a wonderful 2013
