Oh Deer

Dear Mom,

Okay, so I wrote this in August and now the weather is cooler...

The weather has been crazy hot here. I’m glad we have a water feature in our backyard. I spied this deer actually in the upper portion of the pond chewing on the leaves of the daisies I had plucked about a month ago for you. I was glad the deer found some relief.

The other day I posed a question (to God) regarding a difficulty I was having. I needed confirmation and I asked for a sign to my question. Since there are days I see deer and days that I don’t, I stated that if I see a deer, the answer is yes. If I don’t, then the answer is no. And it would have to happen on that day only. (Sometimes I’m a little dense and having clear answers work for me.)

No sooner had I posed my question, I got up to get something and I viewed a brown spot in my peripheral vision. I wondered what had died in the garden. But here’s what I saw.

I laughed and grabbed my camera. I’m not sure if it was the same deer that I had seen the week prior in the water, but it sure had a nice time munching on my lilac bush. I had a nice time getting confirmation on my question.

  1. Did you post pictures? My old laptop won't show any --- I'll have to go check on my hubby's computer. We have deer nearby, but they don't get into our yard. Last spring we saw four of them running down the street as they headed for the woods! Not a usual sight in this subdivision. Normally, they stay hidden except late an night or very early in the morning.

P.S. Glad you had your question answered in such a definitive way!

  2. Cool story, Lynn. That was so nice of God to answer you so quickly.

  3. Loved your story. I too ask God for signs. And God--knowing how badly I need some direction I guess--always seems to oblige.
