Happy Mother's Day!

To all - You deserve this day, so relax and enjoy.

food for thought: What’s the nicest thing done for you as a mother?

  1. Lynn--First of all, Happy Mother's Day to YOU.

Secondly, your sketches are lovely. Really. You have a lot more drawing-artistic ability than you might have previously admitted.

Third, thinking quickly, the nicest thing I ever did for my mother was make her a friendship quilt for her 50th wedding anniversary. I made the quilt blocks, sent them all over the country to she and my dad's friends, and had them sign them. I then embroidered over their signature, pieced the quilt together, and hand-quilted it. My mom and dad had it on their bed every day until my mom had to move from an assisted-living facility into a nursing home.

It was a labor of love...

  2. Beautiful lilacs, Lynn! I will always cherish the year my daughter gave me coupons to help around the house. One was for "swepping," and one was for "moping." Happy Mother's Day!

  3. Oh, crap. After reading Tammy's comment, I realized I had not read your question correctly. Sorry.

I think my daughter giving me a grandbaby--a month before Mother's Day--was the nicest, best thing that was done for me. My son wrote me a song and played/sang it, but that was for Christmas. (I guess I'm still not paying attention to the instructions.)

  5. Love the lilacs. That's more than grew on my goat-decimated bush this year.

  6. Lynn---Happy Mother's Day! I LOVE your drawing. It is my favorite of all the ones your done so far. Lilacs make me think of my grandmother, and they're one of my favorite blooms.

The nicest thing done for me as a mother . . . hmm. That's a tough one. I think it's a collective thing---having friends who love my kids and treat them (and me) like family. It is wonderful knowing that my daughters in particular have other women they feel comfortable going to for help if they need it and can't reach me. If anything happened to me, they'd be covered. That offers some peace of mind.
