Dear Mom,
I came across some cards that I made Dad. I don’t know why I don’t have anything that I made you. And I don’t know how I ended up with these cards either. But here is one of them. I’m posting it because Dad passed 9 years ago today, just shy of his 90th birthday.
I have no idea why I wanted to tell him two jokes as I’m the worst joke teller in the world. Another amusing thing is I refer to Dad as Father and to you as Mother. I don't remember ever calling you Mother or calling Dad Father.
Thinking of you both today.
Must have been a school project. Very sweet sentiments.
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, your card is so awesome. He must have smiled at the "Father" part when he read it. I bet you miss him so much. I wonder if they were knock-knock jokes? Heart 3.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA wow! this is amazing. and yeah, you're a terrible comedian. maybe in your youth you got some laughs. :)
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that you kept this...Wow! There is no such trace of me at that age.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you have this keepsake! I tend to throw things away willy nilly, and regret it later.

Linda, it probably was, although I did like doing those things when I was at home.
ReplyDeleteKathy, yes I miss him, but not how he was at the end of his life.
Casey, you'd know. I got laughs all right, but not for being funny :-)
Sioux, I do have some strange things that have been saved and scratch my head as to why when so many other things that I wish I had are gone, which Pat, I've done that same thing. I guess it just depends on the mood we are in at times.
Sweet! I have some similar letters and cards and stuff I wrote as a child. I think at the time you maybe were writing what you'd recently learned and were practising the jokes and words like father and mother. :O)
ReplyDeleteI, too, am surprised and happy that you've kept so many wonderful items from your childhood!! I have just a tiny few things....my mother was a "throw-away-willy-nilly" mom!
