Snowy Ducks

Dear Mom,

There's a Mallard couple that comes to our pond every year to mate. I saw them doing their thing one morning but it happened so quick I wasn't able to snap a photo.

A few days ago I saw them and tiptoed outside in my green robe (thinking that wouldn't scare them away if I blended in with the natural surroundings) to take a picture. I didn't want to scare them, so I scooted on my belly across the deck until close enough to shoot the photo through the deck railings.

Officially spring here in St. Louis, Missouri by the way (for those not local), it snowed yesterday. I saw the ducks waddling down the hill from the upper pond to the lower pond (guess they thought it might be warmer) and couldn't miss the opportunity to catch them in the snow.

  2. Beautiful photos. So glad we're not snowing here. Lots of rain yesterday and today, and we were under a long tornado watch last night. Everything is in bloom, though, and the pollen count is escalating!

  4. Hi Lynn, what wonderful pictures. You made me laugh, thinking of you in your household camo, crawling along the deck on your belly! Whatever it takes for a great shot. Your pond is really cool.
