Memorial Day

Dear Mom,

I know you had brothers who served in the war and I’m sure it wasn’t easy wondering if they’d make it back. In honor of those who have served in the war and are now serving, I express my sincere thanks. These are just some of my relatives and friends that I know and I’m sure there are many more that I’m unaware of (forgive me). I’m also ignorant of the fact as to what capacity, and which line of the military (working on that so I apologize if I have it incorrect). To those now serving, may God bless you and keep you safe.

  4. Lynn, My Dad, Mervin "Merv" G. Hanson, served in the Navy during WWII and one of his best buddies was Earl "Obie" Obermoeller. Do you know if your uncle went by the nickname Obie back then? He may be the guy my Dad was friends with. They would have served together in Mare Island, CA and in the Philippine Islands. My Dad is still alive and lives in Austin, MN. He is 85 years old.

  5. Hi Neal - Yes, according to my husband, Uncle Earl did go by the name of Obie. It would be nice to be able to get these two connected some how. How did you find this blog?
